Health District

Central Connecticut Health DistrictThe Central Connecticut Health District (CCHD) is responsible for providing a comprehensive environmental and public health services program in the Towns of Berlin, Newington, Rocky Hill and Wethersfield.

This includes enforcement of state and municipal public health and environmental health laws pertaining to such areas as:

  • Day care centers
  • Food establishments
  • Litter and nuisance complaints
  • Motels
  • Private wells
  • Public pools
  • Rental housing
  • Rodent control
  • Septic systems,

The District coordinates a variety of health education and promotion programs including foot care, nutrition education, diabetes self-care, senior health promotion and several health screening clinics. The District is also responsible for the investigation and follow-up of all reportable communicable diseases.
