Construction Standards

The Town of Rocky Hill has Engineering Standards and Specifications to provide engineers, developers, contractors, and homeowners with a baseline for any permitted improvement work performed within the public right-of-way. Where the standards do not provide guidance, the Town generally follows the State of Connecticut Department of Transportation, "Standard Specification for Roads, Bridges and Incidental Construction" Form 818 as amended.

Situations may arise that have not been addressed by either manual and shall be addressed on a case-by-case basis, with the approval of the Town Engineer and/or the Director. Deviations from the requirements and specifications may be allowed, if approved by the Town Engineer and/or the Director, at the applicant's expense.

Call Before You Dig

Prior to the issuance of a permit, the permittee must provide a "Call Before You Dig" number on each individual permit application.

Inspection

Call the Engineering Department 24 hours prior to construction to arrange for an inspection.
