Robert Herron


Robert C. Herron Biography

Bob has a strong interest in history and genealogy, and has served at various times as a researcher for the Connecticut Historical Society, the Godfrey Memorial Library, and the Rocky Hill Historical Society. He is currently the Historian at the Rocky Hill Historical Society.

He recently completed at book on Rocky Hill in World War I and has written an article on the history of the Rocky Hill Veteran's Home which will appear in the spring issue of Connecticut Explored Magazine.

Career & Education

Bob was born December 23, 1942 in Hartford and grew up there. He served four years in the United States Air Force as an airfield fire fighter. He graduated From Central Connecticut State University in 1972 and enjoyed a successful career in information engineering and data architecture.

In addition to his career responsibilities, Bob taught courses in systems analysis and design at the Greater Hartford Community College and delivered guest lectures at the University of Michigan. He has published extensively and presented papers at several professional computer forums. Bob retired in 2003. He has lived at various times in Hartford, Connecticut, Springfield, Massachusetts, Ann Arbor, Michigan, and Boston, Massachusetts.

Family & Hobbies

Bob's daughter's family including, a grandson and a granddaughter live in Wethersfield. His son, Robert's family including two grandsons, lives in Westminster, Colorado.

Bob has enjoyed an eclectic set of hobbies and interests. At various times he pursued sailing, alpine and cross-country skiing, golf, running, guitar, 5-string banjo, sports cars, motorcycling, and performing in musical theater.

Bob hopes to bring his research, computer, and business skills to bear to validate, add to, and communicate historical information about Rocky Hill's history.
