• We've heard back from DEEP that a pre-requisite for receiving a ~$200,000 grant for composting is a commitment to adopt unit-based pricing for waste management (a.k.a. pay-as-you-throw). The council is exploring how firm a requirement that is. Regardless of whether Rocky Hill receives the grant, we may be able to go through with a plan to collect food scraps at the transfer station.
• The town council supports the town's participation in program from The Nature Conservancy that helps towns to create a climate resilience plan, one that supports our Plan of Conservation and Development and our Hazard Mitigation Strategy.
• The town council wants the Sustainability Task Force to focus on Composting, Solar Power, Community Resilience, and Affordable Housing.
